Hi there! I’m the Guinea Pig, a friendly and vocal rodent with a big personality. I eat a diet of hay, fresh vegetables, and specially formulated pellets that meet all my nutritional needs. I express my feelings through various sounds, from cheerful squeals to contented purring. My round body, expressive eyes, and gentle attitude make me a favourite among small pet enthusiasts.
I really like my surroundings, being able to burrow in straw & eating tasty things. My friendly and curious nature makes me a delightful and loving companion. I am a very social little creature, and I do my best when surrounded by other guinea pigs.
In the wild, I can be found in the lush landscapes of South America, where I share my habitat with our closely related cousins, the Chinchillas. I typically live up to 7 years, but I can thrive even longer with dedicated care and a balanced, nutritious diet. Although my name might suggest otherwise, I am not related to pigs; my rounded shape, incessant munching, and occasional grunting sounds inspired the name.
One of my most adorable behaviours is called "popcorning." When I get excited, I leap into the air, twisting and turning in a delightful display that resembles popcorn popping. This joyful act is a clear sign of my happiness and zest for life.
