What’s his favourite animal/animals?

George faced a particularly challenging question, but his deep affection for insects led him to a clear conclusion: it must be bugs. Among them, the Praying Mantis has captured his fascination the most. For over twelve years, George has dedicated himself to caring for these intriguing invertebrates, nurturing various species that showcase their unique and mesmerising beauty. Each mantis possesses distinct characteristics, making them all the more fascinating; no two are alike. Their curious behaviours and playful personalities add to the joy of owning them, creating a rewarding experience for George.

However, his passion for creatures goes beyond just mantises. He also has a special fondness for cats and frogs. Each of these animals brings their own delightful quirks and engaging behaviours, contributing to George's eclectic appreciation for pets. From the graceful leaps of a frog to the playful antics of a cat, these animals enrich George's life in ways that only true animal lovers can understand.

What started his love for animals?

From a young age, George has been captivated by the world of animals. He fondly remembers joining his Nan in the garden, where he eagerly assisted her as she tended to the plants. Together, they would delve into the soil, uncovering an array of fascinating creatures such as squirming worms, delicate snails, and intriguing isopods. George's curiosity didn't stop there; he took it upon himself to create intricate bug hotels, providing cozy shelters for his tiny friends to thrive. His compassionate nature shone through when he would rescue beetles from threatening puddles and swimming pools, nursing them back to health through careful rehabilitation.

As a child, George and his cousin would transform their backyard into a vibrant stage for imaginative play, adopting the personas of Steve and Terry Irwin. They would enthusiastically explore the nearby ponds, searching for frogs while pretending to be daring crocodile adventurers, meticulously documenting their findings.

In 2022, George's passion for the outdoors led him to take a job working in the woods, where he rediscovered his ambition for entomology (the study of insects). This role not only deepened his appreciation for the intricate ecosystems around him but also fuelled his desire to advocate for the often-overlooked, less cuddly creatures that inhabit our world. George firmly believes that these small, unique beings deserve recognition and respect just as much as their more popular counterparts. His mission is to ignite a similar passion in others, encouraging them to value and protect the quirky little creatures that play essential roles in our ecosystems.
