About Izzy:
Introducing one of our passionate young animal experts and aspiring zookeepers, Izzy! With a lifelong love for animals and a dream of working closely with them, she is already building an exciting career dedicated to animal care, education and conservation.
Alongside her work with Wild Science, she volunteers at a zoo, where she continues to expand her knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of species. Her ultimate ambition is to become a zookeeper and play an important role in protecting endangered animals and preventing species from becoming extinct.
Looking further into the future, she hopes to branch out into wildlife conservation projects, helping to protect animals and their natural habitats. Her passion goes far beyond simply working with animals; she wants to make a genuine difference to wildlife around the world and contribute towards securing a better future for vulnerable species.
What area does she cover?
Based across the South East, she delivers Wild Science experiences throughout London, Hertfordshire, Essex and Kent.
Travelling across these areas gives her the opportunity to share her enthusiasm for animals with a wide variety of audiences, introducing people to fascinating species and creating exciting, educational experiences wherever she goes.
Her favourite part of working for Wild Science:
One of her favourite things about working for Wild Science is seeing the excitement and curiosity people show when they meet and learn about the animals.
She finds it incredibly rewarding to help people overcome their fears and discover something new about creatures they may previously have misunderstood or been nervous around. Through positive, educational encounters, she hopes to encourage people to see these animals from a completely different perspective.
Being able to help someone develop a greater understanding and appreciation for some of the world's most misunderstood animals is one of the things that makes her role so rewarding.
Her experience with Wild Science:
She has loved her experience with Wild Science so far. Working with the company has given her the opportunity to meet many wonderful people while sharing her passion for animals through fun, interactive and educational experiences.
Her time with Wild Science has also allowed her to develop her knowledge, confidence and practical skills while working with a variety of amazing animals.
Most importantly, she loves being able to create memorable experiences for the people she meets. Every session is an opportunity to inspire someone, teach them something new and encourage their curiosity about the animal world.
What sessions does she do?
She delivers a fantastic range of fun, interactive and educational animal sessions suitable for different ages, audiences and occasions.
Her sessions include school visits, birthday parties, workshops, holiday clubs, care homes and events, alongside many other animal experiences.
Each session is designed to be engaging and educational, giving participants plenty of opportunities to learn more about the animals they meet. Whether she is introducing someone to an animal for the first time or helping them overcome a fear, her aim is to make every encounter enjoyable, informative and memorable.
What are her favourite animals?
Choosing just one favourite animal is almost impossible for such a passionate animal lover, so she has narrowed it down to a top five: vultures, tapirs, jaguars, emerald tree boas and otters.
Vultures are particularly fascinating to her because of the incredibly important role they play within ecosystems. Despite often being misunderstood, these remarkable birds are vital for maintaining healthy environments and deserve far more appreciation.
Tapirs are another firm favourite because of their wonderfully gentle and kind nature. She particularly loves how much they enjoy being scratched, which only adds to their charm!
Jaguars have captured her attention because of their incredible combination of strength and beauty. As apex predators, they also play an essential role in maintaining balance within their habitats, making them as important ecologically as they are fascinating to learn about.
The emerald tree boa is another species she believes deserves more recognition. With its stunning appearance and fascinating lifestyle, she considers it a truly beautiful snake that is too often overlooked.
Finally, there are otters. Their playful, curious personalities make them endlessly entertaining, but she is equally fascinated by their intelligence and the way they interact with each other and their environment. Their energetic and inquisitive nature makes them an animal she never gets tired of learning about.
What started her love for animals?
Pinpointing exactly where her love for animals began is difficult because animals have seemingly always been part of her life.
Her mum has told her that even when she was very young, she was completely obsessed with animals and that it was clear she would eventually find a career working with them.
Growing up, wildlife television played an important part in nurturing that enthusiasm. Programmes such as Deadly 60 and Animal Park, along with watching Steve Irwin and his crocodile adventures, helped fuel her fascination with wildlife. Even her favourite childhood films tended to revolve around animals, with movies such as The Lion King becoming firm favourites.
She was also fortunate to have plenty of opportunities to experience animals and visit zoos while growing up. Each encounter strengthened her passion and helped turn a childhood fascination into a clear career ambition.
Over time, one thing became certain: working with animals wasn't simply something she enjoyed – it was what she wanted to dedicate her career to.
