Best Animal Visits to Schools Near Me

Best Animal Visits to Schools Near Me

Imagine the excitement in a classroom when children meet a fluffy rabbit, curious guinea pig, or fascinating reptile for the first time. Animal visits bring learning to life in a way that textbooks simply cannot.

At Wild Science, we provide interactive and educational animal visits for schools across the UK. Our sessions combine hands-on learning, science, and nature education to create memorable experiences for children of all ages. Moreover, whether schools are searching for animal visits for schools near me, reptile visits to schools near me, or wildlife encounters for schools, our team delivers engaging sessions. These are tailored to different learning environments.

Our visits are suitable for nurseries, primary schools, secondary schools, SEN settings, after-school clubs, and community groups. Schools can also combine animal encounters with our science workshops and STEM education sessions for a more immersive learning experience.

Bringing Learning to Life Through Animal Encounters

Educational animal visits help children connect classroom topics to real-life experiences. Instead of only reading about habitats, food chains, or life cycles, pupils can observe and interact with animals directly.

Our animal education programs for schools support a wide range of curriculum topics, including ecosystems, adaptations, conservation, nocturnal and diurnal animals, and responsible pet ownership. These interactive animal visits schools sessions encourage curiosity, discussion, and hands-on participation.

Children often remember practical experiences far longer than traditional lessons. Meeting animals face-to-face helps make science and nature more exciting, especially for younger learners.

Schools interested in habitats and life cycles can also explore our life cycle workshops and habitats and adaptations sessions.

Animal Experiences for Different Age Groups

Every school group learns differently, so Wild Science tailors sessions to match the age and ability of the children attending.

Nursery and EYFS groups usually enjoy gentle sensory-focused sessions with rabbits, guinea pigs, and calm animal interactions. Meanwhile, primary schools often focus on habitats, animal behaviour, and ecosystems. Older students may explore more detailed science and conservation topics.

Our educational animal visits schools programmes are designed to feel engaging rather than overwhelming. Children are encouraged to ask questions, observe animal behaviour, and take part in safe, supervised interaction where appropriate.

Schools looking for sensory-friendly experiences can also explore our SEN workshops and engaging mini beast workshops.

Meet Mammals, Reptiles and Exotic Animals

Wild Science brings a wide variety of animals directly into schools. This helps children experience species they may never normally encounter.

Depending on the workshop and animal welfare considerations, sessions may include rabbits, guinea pigs, tortoises, corn snakes, geckos, frogs, giant snails, stick insects, and other fascinating species. These exotic animal visits schools sessions help children learn about habitats, diets, adaptations, and animal behaviour. They do so through direct observation and interaction.

Reptile visits to schools near me are especially popular because many children are fascinated by snakes, lizards, and amphibians. Schools often combine reptile sessions with our reptile encounter experiences and wider animal encounter workshops.

Supporting Wellbeing Through Animal Visits

Animal encounters can also support emotional wellbeing within schools. Calm animal interactions often help children feel more relaxed, engaged, and confident during activities.

Many schools now include animal therapy sessions for schools as part of wellbeing days and enrichment activities. Gentle hands-on interaction can encourage communication, empathy, and positive social experiences. This is especially true for children who benefit from practical and sensory learning environments.

Our sessions are designed to create a calm and inclusive atmosphere. Here, children can enjoy learning while building confidence around animals and nature.

Schools and care settings interested in wellbeing activities can also explore our animal visits for care homes and therapeutic animal experiences.

Mobile Petting Zoo School Events

A mobile petting zoo school event brings the excitement of farm and exotic animals directly onto school grounds without the need for travel.

These sessions are popular for science weeks, enrichment days, reward events, and end-of-term activities. Children can enjoy a hands-on animal experience in a familiar environment. At the same time, they learn about nature and animal welfare in an engaging way.

Schools searching for mobile petting zoo schools near me or farm animal visits for schools often choose Wild Science because sessions are adapted to fit different spaces, age groups, and educational goals.

For larger educational events, schools can also explore our mobile farm experiences and interactive wildlife workshops.

Safety and Animal Welfare

Safety and animal welfare are always prioritised during every Wild Science session. All visits are supervised by experienced and DBS-checked staff, with hygiene guidance and controlled animal interaction throughout the experience.

Animals are carefully monitored to ensure they remain calm and comfortable during sessions. Schools looking for ethical providers of animal education for schools often choose Wild Science. This is because we focus on responsible handling, education, and welfare rather than simple entertainment alone.

Our team can also help schools planning educational events or searching for guidance about arranging an animal visit safely within a school environment.

Booking an Animal Visit for Your School

Booking an educational animal visit is simple. Wild Science works with schools across the UK to create tailored sessions based on age groups, learning topics, available space, and event goals.

Whether you are planning wildlife encounters for schools, animal ambassadors school visits, interactive animal displays for Early Years Foundation Stage groups, or nature education animal visits, our team can help create a memorable experience for your pupils.

Schools looking for enrichment activities can also explore our mobile petting zoo experiences and interactive science events.

What an incredible experience! Booked for my sister’s 31st birthday, we couldn’t have had a better time! Jess immediately made everyone feel at ease and relaxed, was incredibly attentive to my sister’s energy levels (she has severe M.E.), asking if she wanted to take breaks or lay quietly with a Guinea pig.
Jess shared her wealth of knowledge with us in a very humour filled way, answering any questions we had. The animals she brought with her were amazing and all seemed incredibly happy and healthy. Such a range of different animals, a lesser tenrec, a tree frog, two Guinea pigs, a tortoise, a scorpion, a giant snail and a python!
Thank you Jess for such a special birthday treat for my sister, and incredible memories for our whole family to cherish!

You won’t be disappointed!

George Brown was booked for our granddaughter's birthday party. He and his wonderful animal friends enthralled everyone there from 2 years old to 70 somethings. George has a wonderful gift for communicating his knowledge and love of the animals he generously shared with us. Book him! You won't be disappointed.

Wholly recommended the experience with Wild Science. From the telephone call through to the day itself, the team are professional and very communicative. Harriet was amazing with the animals and children. Our birthday girl and friends had such a great time petting the animals (as much or as little as they wanted to). Harriet had some wonderful facts to share and responded so sensitively and helpfully to answer all questions the children had. Thanks so much- it was a delight to have you for our daughter’s birthday party.

We booked a corporate animal therapy session as part of Mental Health Awareness week, and it was truly loved by everyone. [...] Harriet was absolutely fantastic - super knowledgable, engaging and clearly passionate about every animal she introduced us to. [...] Harriet created such a calm environment that even our more hesitant colleagues were soon happily holding the snake. We can't recommend Wild Science highly enough - if you're looking to boost morale, reduce stress or just do something a little bit different for your team.

Thank you Wild Science for such an amazing party! Amy was super professional and had the kids eating out of the palm of her hand. My son absolutely loved the animals she brought and we were so impressed with how she handled the group (of 3-5 year olds) and gave them interesting and fun facts about each animal which kept all the kids interested and engaged. It was so much fun, we would highly recommend it!!!

Ross was absolutely amazing. So patient, kind and knowledgeable of the animals and the slime workshop. We had a party of 20 and with the madness that ensued he was always calm and reassuring for each child if they were apprehensive of holding any animal - big or small. Would 100% book Wild Science again, especially Ross.
Thank you for making our animal lovers birthday so special!
